Ok, so you consider yourself to be the quintessential United States person living a pretty normal life and pretty much average to above average in most aspects. Am I right in that statement?
If I am, and I KNOW I am, then you are some one that either thinks that gambling and betting on the horses is fun, or if you have never done it, you would go crazy once you do get a chance to partake in the fun of betting on the ponies.
How do I know that? Well, if it was merely a past time that people did, it would not have lasted and proliferated into the industry that it is today. Lets face it that is a simple case of supply accommodating the demand. There is a huge demand and so companies do what they can to supply the means by which you can enjoy a period of time betting. Lets face it here; it is a two way tug of war. You want to go in, make a bet and walk out with a LOT more money than you walked in with and the establishment wants to help part you from as much of your hard earned cash as they can. That is part of the over all excitement. Its like walking down the street and finding money on the curb and no one around. Or reaching into an old suit you have not worn in years, since that last boring family wedding, and finding a twenty in there. Its the excitement of or the illusion of getting something for nothing.
Its like doing something as a child that you knew you were not supposed to do but you do it and hope you get away with it because it gets the adrenaline going and makes you feel alive.
Betting on the horses is fun and really gets you going. Unlike other forms of gambling and betting when you implement another element or two into the equation. Say a horse that might not feel great that day, or a jockey that maybe had one hot dog too many the night before and could slow down the horse because of the added weight. You take time to study things before you place that bet on a horse and as such you are trying to swing the odds into your favor because you have developed a formula, whatever that might be, to help you determine which horse is going to make it to the number one spot.
Unlike the famed one armed bandits in a casino on the strip in Vegas or nestled on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. This takes a certain amount of skill. Lets face it, anyone can pull that lever and hope for a winner.
It takes some real work to analyze the information on the sheet and compute all the variables that may go against or for a certain choice and then to lay down the money on that choice and then scream as they run around the track.
